Nautilus (meaning 'Sailor') is an aquatic prehistoric creature that was included in the original Fossils and Archeology mod. It is a living fossil that spawns naturally in the world but can also be created by the player through the culture vat. The only other naturally spawning creatures are the coelacanth, sturgeon, and alligator gar. Upon death, they can drop empty shells and magic conches. Right-clicking a nautilus puts it into your inventory as an item.You can cook live nautilus in a furnace to whip up Sio-Chiu-Le, a Taiwanese snack.

BEHAVIOR

The nautilus is an aquatic mob that spawns naturally in the world. They spawn in shallow waters most often and rarely in deep waters. They will occasionally drop nautilus spawn which can be used to birth more nautilus'. Their predators are mosasaurus, liopleurodon, spinosaurus, and sarcosuchus. When a predator or the player gets within 3 blocks of the nautilus, it will stop moving and attempt to hide in its shell and it will be invulnerable while doing so. They can only live in water, and when placed on land they will suffocate and die. Also Nautilus Can Ride Minecart

Like the other smaller aquatic mobs, they cannot be tamed, ordered, fed, bred, or aged, don't have moods or genders, and will not interact with toys. They also do not make sounds.

They will not defend themselves when hurt and are vulnerable to mosasaurus, liopleurodon, and plesiosaurs. They can only live in water, and when placed on land they will suffocate and die.

Like some other non-dinosaurian mobs, they cannot be tamed, ordered, fed, bred, or aged. They also do not make sounds.
